How do i cite a source that i am not quoting?

Answer

There are several ways to use sources in your paper.  You can directly quote your source using quotation marks, you can paraphrase the source in your own words, or you can summarize a source.  In all of those cases, you must include a paranthetical, in-text citation at the end of the sentence giving credit to your source.  If you don't include in-text citations for quotes, summaries, and paraphrases, you could be accused of plagiarism.

Take a look at our online tutorial Citation Style, Part 1 for more information on how to properly quote, paraphrase, and summarize your sources.
