How do I find information on a mental disorder?

Hey there, YCCC Student,
We have a great online source to help you do research on mental disorders. It's called the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). The DSM-IV is the official handbook of mental disorders published by the American Psychiatric Association.
You can search that electronic resource from home, but you will need to log-in. Starting in Spring 2014, students can log into the library's online resources using their student login and ID#, just like logging in to YCCC email or Blackboard.

Once you're in the DSM-IV, type the name of the mental disorder that you're researching into the search box at the top of the page. Tip: keep it short. For example, instead of typing in Bipolar Disorder, just type in bipolar. Then click the Search This Title button (it's the second button to the right). You will get a listing of relevant articles that you can read online, email to yourself, or print out.
