Can I take my online class using my smartphone?

The short answer: No.
Blackboard functions differently from a mobile browser than it does when viewed on a computer; you may be able to read some things, but it's very hard to submit and interact with assignments on a tiny touch screen. That's why it's important to have consistent access to a computer with internet when you take an online course.
Some assignments will require you to upload files created with computer software, which can't be done on a smartphone.
